Flood waters fill Jurala project, power generation begins

Hyderabad, Sept 12: With flood waters filling the Jurala project, which is built across River Krishna in Mahbubnagar district, officials have started hydel power generation at the project and releasing water downstream, according to sources. At the end of Kharif season, Jurala project reached its full storage level, sources said. The current water level at the project is 318.15 metres as against the full water level of 318.516 metres. Since the inflow to the project is 23,000 cusecs, officials began releasing 29,000 cusecs downstream, sources said. It is the first project in both the Telugu states to reach full storage level this year.
