Foundation laid for AP NIT

Hyderabad, August 20: Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone for the construction of permanent buildings of National Institute of Technology (NIT) at Tadepalligudem (West Godavari district) on Thursday. Central Ministers Venkaiah Naidu, Sujana Chowdary, State Ministers attended the programme. NIT classes will be conducted at Vasavi Engineering College in Pedatadepalli in Tadepalligudem mandal from August 28 on temporary basis. There are 540 seats in NIT, Tadepalligudem. Admission for 480 seats under AP quota will be done through NIT, Tadepalligudem, while admission for the remaining 60 seats under Telangana quota will be done through NIT, Warangal. Students admitted through Warangal NIT will come under Andhra NIT. 383 seats in NIT Tadepalligudem were filled during the four rounds of counselling and the remaining seats will be filled today. Selected students should take admission in Vasavi Engineering College. Induction programme will be held on August 27 and classes will commence from August 28.
