Currency notes in river

Mumbai/Hyderabad, August 12: Everybody knows currency notes won't hang from trees or fall from sky. But in Mumbai, currency notes seen floating in water created havoc on Tuesday evening. A man saw currency notes of Rs 1,000 denomination floating in water near Gate Way of India. The news spread like wildfire and within minutes hundreds of people gathered and were seen fighting to grab a handful of notes. Police rushed to the spot and sent the public away from there. But nobody knows where the money came from. One story that was in the air was that a rich man threw a bag containing lakhs of rupees into the river to save it from thieves. Police made no comment about this.
