Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia to Rishiteswari's parents

Hyderabad, August 1: The AP cabinet took a decision to construct two lakh houses at a cost of Rs 5,500 crore this year under NTR housing scheme. Several key decisions were also taken during the cabinet meeting. 1.50 lakh new houses in the colonies would be constructed and also permission would be given to 50,000 houses where land is already available. Each house would be built in 279 square feet area at a cost of Rs 2.75 lakh. Rs 1.75 lakh subsidy and Rs one lakh bank loan to SC and STs and Rs 1.25 lakh subsidy and Rs 1.50 lakh bank loan to others would be provided. The new IIIT to be established in Ongole will be named after late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia and 500 square yards land is to be given to the family of Rishiteswari, Nagarjuna University student who allegedly committed suicide due to ragging. Strict measures are to be taken to ban ragging in all universities. Fee reimbursement and scholarships will not be given to students who have less than 75 per cent attendance. No fee reimbursement to students who pursue second course in universities.
