Indian-American woman to be honoured as 'Champion of Change'
Washington/Hyderabad, July 17: Indian American Sunita Viswanath was selected for the hounor of 'Champion of Change' by the White House. She was the only Indian American out of the 12 others who have been selected for the honour. People who work for protecting the environment and communities from climatic changes will be selected for this honour. Sunita was born in Chennai and settled in America. She has been striving to protect the environment for 30 years along with women's and human rights associations. She was also an active member of women's human rights organisation, Women for Afghan Women, Sadhana, Frontline Womens' Human Rights Organisation etc. Presently, Sunita is working on a project to clean up selected beaches in Jamaica Bay where Hindus offer prayers and litter the place.
