Salman's hit-and-run case put off to July 13

Mumbai/Hyderabad, July 1: Bollywood hero Salman Khan's hit-and-run case was put off to July 13. The Mumbai High Court, after hearing arguments of both the parties, has adjourned the next hearing to July 13. Salman Khan ran his car over people sleeping on the pavement outside a bakery in suburban Bandra in the early hours of September 28, 2002. A person was killed in this mishap. Sessions Court Judge pronounced Salman as guilty and sentenced him to 5 years imprisonment. He was also sentenced two months jail and Rs 5,000 fine for driving without license. But the actor approached Mumbai High Court and was on bail. Meanwhile, the trial of another case of the hero, Arms Act, was also postponed to July 20. The forest department had filed a case against Salman under Arms Act, stating that the license of the arms used by Salman while hunting black bucks in Kankani village near Jodhpur on the night of October 1, 1998 had expired. Besides, the black buck is a protected animal whose hunting is punishable. Along with him, actors Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bindre, Tabu and Neelam were accused of hunting the animal.
