1875 beer bottle sold for £3,330

London, June 15: Normally a bottle of beer costs Rs 100. Or at the most Rs 200. But imagine a bottle of beer costing £3,330 (approximately Rs 3.28lakh). A 140-year-old bottle of beer, 'Allsopp's Arctic Ale', was brewed by Sir George Nares in 1875 for an arctic expedition. This was discovered in a garage Shropshire and was put for auction at London Auction House. It was expected to fetch £600, but was auctioned for £3,300 - more than five times its estimation. The organisers of the auction said they have seen empty beer bottles of 19th century. But this is the first time they have seen a bottle with beer, they added.
