US rejects 2,100 batches of Indian FMCG products
Mumbai, June 13: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of United States has rejected over 2,100 import batches of food and other products manufactured in India by Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) manufacturing companies like Hindustan Unilever, Britannia, Nestle, Halidram, MTR foods and Heinz, during the past one year. The products were rejected due to labelling issues, presence of pesticides and chemicals beyond the permissible limits, preparation under unhygienic conditions and other issues. The companies refuted the reports and said the rejected products were shipped by unauthorized third-party importers. In some instances products were rejected either due to improper storage and distribution done by unauthorised exporters.
