Chandrababu Naidu Reveals His Morning Meal and Advocates Dietary Reform
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu remarked that it was only after former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao assumed office that rice became accessible to the public in the state. Before that, in many regions, people primarily consumed millets such as jowar and ragi as their staple diet. He stated that food habits have significantly changed over time to align with evolving lifestyles.
Chandrababu Naidu participated as the chief guest at the Animal Husbandry and Tech AI 2.0 Summit held in Vijayawada, where he shared several insights during his address.
Reflecting on past conditions, Chandrababu Naidu stated, “People in some regions used to eat ragi, while in others they consumed jowar. However, after our leader N.T. Rama Rao became Chief Minister, he introduced the two-rupee per kilogram rice scheme, which enabled everyone to access rice. Even in drought-hit regions, people began consuming rice occasionally.”
The Chief Minister expressed concern over current dietary patterns, noting that excessive consumption of rice has led to health issues such as diabetes. He said, “A person’s health is determined by their food intake, habits, and lifestyle. Globally, food preferences are changing. Foods rich in protein such as chicken, fish, and eggs are gaining prominence. Some of my friends have pointed out that egg consumption has declined; we must raise awareness about this issue. I myself have completely changed my lifestyle and now only eat an omelette for breakfast.”
Chandrababu Naidu also noted a significant rise in the consumption of millets, fruits, and vegetables as part of a balanced diet. He highlighted the growing global emphasis on horticultural crops and stated that the state government is also promoting horticulture in response to these dietary shifts.
