New Delhi: In the midst of intense tensions, officials demolished the Hanuman temple this morning in Delhi. The demolition was carried out by the Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) at Bhajanpura Chowk. In this backdrop, a large police force and CRPF personnel were deployed to prevent any untoward incidents. The temple was an obstacle for the officials who decided to expand the national highway in Shahdara. According to North East DCP Joy N Tirkey, the demolition of the Hanuman temple and a mosque took place peacefully, with the permission of religious committees. Both were completely removed without any conflict.
