Assam: In a tragic incident, seven students from Assam Engineering College (AEC) lost their lives, while six others, including three AEC students, sustained injuries in a road accident early Monday morning. The accident occurred in Jalukbari, Guwahati, at approximately 12:30 am when an SUV carrying ten AEC students overturned and collided with a small pick-up van traveling from the opposite direction. According to the police, the SUV veered off the road, struck a divider, and flipped over before colliding with the oncoming vehicle. The SUV sustained severe damage, indicating that it may have been traveling at a high speed prior to the accident, as revealed in the initial investigation conducted by Padmanabh Barugh, DCP (Guwahati West). Tragically, the seven AEC students lost their lives at the scene of the accident.
