In a recent development, Aftab Amin Poonawala has been charged with murder and orchestrating the disappearance of evidence in the brutal killing of 27-year-old Shraddha Walkar in the heart of India's capital city, Delhi. The charges were filed on Tuesday by a Delhi court. The accused has been charged under Sections 302 (Murder) and 201 (Disappearance of Evidence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) by Judge Manisha Khurana Kakkar of Saket Courts. According to the judge, a prima facie case of Section 302 is made out, and charges will be framed. It has been alleged that Poonawala hacked up Walkar's body and disposed of it to avoid punishment, which is in violation of Section 201 of the IPC. When questioned by the judge, Poonawala pleaded not guilty and stated that he would face the trial. The case has now been set for trial after Poonawala entered a not-guilty plea. The recording of prosecution evidence has been scheduled for June 1.
