Mumbai, India: In a bid to enhance transparency in the ticket-checking process and curb violent or unruly behavior on trains, railway ticket checkers are being equipped with body cameras, according to railway officials. The Mumbai Division of Central Railway has initiated a pilot project, providing 50 body cameras for use by their staff. The body cameras, each priced at Rs 9,000, have the capacity to record up to 20 hours of continuous footage. Railway officials are closely monitoring the pilot project in Mumbai, and if successful, the initiative will be expanded across the entire rail network. This move is expected to not only increase transparency and accountability in ticket-checking procedures, but also contribute to the safety and security of both passengers and railway personnel.
