To remove the patient's brain tumour, Italian surgeons used a novel procedure. Doctors at a private hospital in Rome operated on the patient while he was awake. The hospital administration released a video of a 35-year-old man with a brain tumour playing the saxophone during operation. The brain tumour was successfully removed after nine hours of diligent labour by a group of nine medical professionals. The physicians believe that if the procedure is carried out while the patient is awake, they would be able to quickly monitor it if anything goes wrong. This is the first time in Italy that a complicated surgery has been carried out in a private facility.
