Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and AIMIM Supremo demanded in a letter to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday that National Integration Day be observed in place of Hyderabad Liberation Day. "Rather than merely being a case of a piece of land being freed, the battles of the people of the former Hyderabad state against colonialism, feudalism, and authoritarianism are a symbol of national integration," Owaisi wrote in the letter to Amit Shah. The AIMIM party will take part in the Center-led celebrations only if the occasion is renamed National Integration Day and not Liberation Day, the MIM MP added in a press conference held on Saturday. According to Owaisi, on September 16, he and the other members of his party's leadership will host a public gathering and kick off the Tiranga demonstration.
