It has been made clear that arguments should be heard on this issue by adjourning the hearing until this month's 25th. A supplementary petition was filed in the AP High Court by Mudi Navaneethamma of Mettu village in the Nellore district objecting to the amnesty and release of eight individuals serving life sentences in connection with the murder of her husband Parthamareddy. The government's legal representative stated that the governor had decided to release the convicts in accordance with his authority. The judge rejected those arguments, stating that in order to be eligible for amnesty and to satisfy the prison officials, a person who has been given a life sentence must serve at least 14 years in jail and exhibit good behaviour. He deferred the session, advising that he should be ready to present points in detail the next time.
