India's newest airline, Akasa Air, flew to Ahmedabad from Mumbai on Sunday. Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, the union minister for civil aviation, officially opened the flight of India's newest airline. At 10:05 a.m., the inaugural aircraft departed from Mumbai and was due to land at Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 11:25 a.m. The airline has already declared a total of five routes along five cities, including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Bengaluru, and Chennai. The airline is gradually expanding its network of cities and routes. The airline's strategy is centred on creating strong connectivity between metro areas and tier-2 and tier-3 cities all over India. Expectations for the ultra low-cost carrier are high as the "greenest" airline joins the Indian aviation sector.
