On Wednesday, the DGCA, the aviation regulator, ordered SpiceJet to run only half of its flights for eight weeks. For the purpose of maintaining a safe and dependable air transportation service, the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued an order limiting SpiceJet's number of departures to 50% of the departures authorised under the Summer schedule 2022 for a period of eight weeks. This restriction was made in light of the findings of various spot checks, audits, and the company's response to the show cause notice. The decision stated that after reviewing the recorded events from April 1 to July 5, it was determined that there was insufficient internal safety control and maintenance efforts, which had a negative impact on the safety margins. The airline would be under increased observation by the DGCA for these eight weeks.
