There are now just two candidates left in the race for the position of British PM: former Indian-born UK minister Rishi Sunak and foreign secretary Liz Truss. If Sunak is chosen as prime minister, the UK will join a select group of 11 nations where a person of Indian heritage holds the highest office in the executive branch. In 10 different countries, people of Indian heritage have held the roles of Prime Minister or President 31 times. In six of these countries, there are still leaders who are of Indian heritage. Heads of state of Indian descent have visited, among other countries, Trinidad and Tobago, Portugal, Malaysia, Fiji, Ireland, and the Seychelles.
