In light of the ongoing heavy rains, the Telangana administration, led by Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao (KCR), on Wednesday extended holidays for all educational institutions in the state until July 16. The administration had previously declared three days off from school owing to the state's expected severe rainfall, and classes were set to resume on Thursday. The officials agreed to extend the holidays by three more days, as the rains continued in several areas of the state. 'In view of continuous heavy rains and unfavourable weather conditions, Government has decided to extend holidays for all educational institutions (Govt, Aided and Private) from July 14 to July 16,' stated an order from the School Education Department in this respect. From July 18, educational institutions will reopen, it was added.
