Following eight malfunction incidents in the previous 18 days, the SpiceJet airline has been sent a show cause notice by India's aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Due to a deterioration in the safety margin following many mishaps since April 1, regulator, the DGCA, issued a show cause notice to SpiceJet Ltd, holding that the airline had failed to create a safe air service. The SpiceJet headed for Dubai had to make an emergency landing in Karachi yesterday. Now, SpiceJet Cargo headed for China was detoured, and the pilots took it back to Kolkata airport. The reports stated that the weather radar was unable to pick up a signal. Yesterday saw three SpiceJet aircraft have technical issues in a single day. SpiceJet has been given three weeks to react and explain why no action should be taken against it.
