The BJP nominated Dr. K. Laxman, a senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader from Telangana state and a former party MLA from the Hyderabad city, to the Rajya Sabha on Monday. The party has stated that Dr. Laxman will be its candidate in Uttar Pradesh. Dr. Laxman is the national head of the BJP's OBC Morcha and was previously the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Telangana. Dr. Laxman worked for the BJP as its national secretary before becoming the party's OBC Morcha national president in 2020, a post he still occupies. His name was released with Mithilesh Kumar's, who is also from Uttar Pradesh. The party had earlier nominated six additional candidates from the state, from which it can send up to eight representatives to the Rajya Sabha.
