Andhra Pradesh acquired a new map on Monday (April 4, 2022) when Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated 13 new districts in the state. The new districts, which were created from the previous 13 districts, brought the total number of districts in the state to 26. The move is intended to decentralise governance and promote balanced development. At present, the number of Parliamentary constituencies in AP are 25. On April 7th, the State Cabinet will meet under the supervision of CM YS Jagan, when he is supposed to talk on the plans and strategies of 2024 General Election. AP CM announced the new districts in a virtual event attended by a number of MPs, MLAs, district collectors, and police superintendents. The exercise, according to CM Jagan, was done to ensure decentralised development of all areas by bringing governance closer to the people.
