'Gaayapadda Simham' Movie Review
Introduction: “Gaayapadda Simham” is a quirky romantic comedy with a satirical touch, featuring Tarun Bhascker in the lead role. Directed by Kashyap Srinivas, the film attempts a unique concept blending love, revenge, and dark humor. The movie explores an unusual premise revolving around a man’s frustration with life circumstances and his bizarre plan for revenge.
Plot Summary: Darahas (Tarun Bhascker) and Gayatri (Manasa Choudhary) are in love. However, Gayatri’s father (Anish Kuruvilla) agrees to their marriage only if Darahas moves to the United States and settles there. After facing several struggles, Darahas finally gets a visa and travels to the US. But due to regulations imposed during Donald Trump’s presidency, he is forced to return to India within just 34 hours of landing.
Realizing that his dream of marrying Gayatri is shattered, Darahas becomes furious and decides to take revenge on Trump, whom he blames for ruining his life.
He seeks the help of Bhairavdas (Sree Vishnu), a friend of a friend, to perform black magic on Trump. What follows is whether Bhairavdas actually carries out this plan, whether Darahas returns to the US, and whether he reunites with Gayatri. The connections of Brutal Dharma (JD Chakravarthy) and Shalini (Faria Abdullah) add further layers to the story.
Analysis: With the trend of experimenting with fresh concepts, “Gayapadda Simham” falls into the category of films that try something unconventional. The idea of performing black magic on the US President is quirky and sounds amusing on paper. However, while the concept is novel, it fails in execution.
The screenplay lacks engagement, making the film feel dull for most of its runtime. Although there are satirical references to popular films like “Bommarillu,” “Pokiri,” and “Arjun Reddy,” they evoke mixed reactions—some may find them funny, while others may find them irritating. Instead of focusing on original storytelling, the film leans on spoof elements, which weakens its overall impact.
The first half moves slowly and fails to build sufficient interest even by the interval. The second half is slightly better but still doesn’t create enough curiosity or excitement. Overall, the film struggles to keep the audience engaged and feels largely boring despite a few scattered humorous moments.
Performances: Tarun Bhascker delivers a decent performance, but there is still room for improvement in his acting. Faria Abdullah’s role feels routine and lacks freshness, indicating a need for her to explore more diverse characters. Director Kashyap Srinivas, who also appears in the film, manages to bring a few laughs in his role as Darahas’s friend.
Sree Vishnu’s character initially appears interesting but gradually turns dull. Shubhalekha Sudhakar and Harshavardhan perform adequately within their limited scope. JD Chakravarthy’s presence lacks his usual impact, and Manasa Choudhary’s character does not get enough importance in the narrative.
Technical Aspects: The cinematography is good and visually appealing. However, the songs and background score fail to leave a strong impression. The production values are decent but not outstanding.
Final Verdict: Apart from a few occasional laughs, “Gayapadda Simham” remains largely boring. Despite having a unique concept, the film lacks energy and engaging storytelling. This “injured lion” fails to roar and falls short of entertaining the audience.
