In a distressing incident that highlights the challenges faced by remote communities, a pregnant woman from Telangana's Bhadradri Kothagudem district was transported to a hospital using a makeshift stretcher, locally known as a 'doli.' The ordeal took place due to the unavailability of road access to their village, preventing an ambulance from reaching them in time. The tribal woman, who had developed severe labor pains, had no choice but to rely on the strength and determination of her family. Two men from her family undertook the arduous task of carrying her on the makeshift stretcher through a forest stretch to reach the nearest medical facility, the Primary Health Centre.
