Khammam District, September 5: In an inspiring development, a transgender individual named Ruth Janpal Koyala has achieved a significant milestone by securing a seat for postgraduate studies in medicine. Ruth Janpal, who works as a doctor at Osmania Hospital, has become the first transgender person to attain this opportunity. Hailing from Khammam, Ruth Janpal graduated from Mallareddy Institute of Medical College in 2018. Despite facing rejection from various hospitals due to her transgender identity, she remained determined to fight for her rights. Ruth Janpal took her case to court, seeking equal treatment for transgender individuals. The Chief Justice of the High Court, referencing a judgment by the Supreme Court, issued an interim order that highlighted the importance of providing employment and education opportunities for transgenders. This decision paved the way for Ruth Janpal's pursuit of postgraduate education in medicine.
