A massive Burmese python captured in remote South Florida has heightened fears of unchecked predation on native wildlife. The female python, measuring a record-breaking 19 feet in length and weighing 125 pounds, was discovered by hunters in Big Cypress National Preserve, west of Miami. The Conservancy of Southwest Florida's python team confirmed the measurements, deeming it the longest documented python in Florida. A dramatic video showed 22-year-old Jake Waleri grappling with the snake as it attempted to bite him on U.S. 41 near Monroe Station. Waleri described the python as a monstrous creature, and the struggle lasted around three minutes before he gained control.
