Demonstrating remarkable unity, the Indian diaspora in Canada came together on July 8 to safeguard Indian diplomats from a pro-Khalistani demonstration in Toronto. Gathering outside the Indian Consulate, they proudly waved the Indian tricolour flag and echoed chants of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai." The crowd brandished placards that read "Khalistanis are not Sikhs" and "Khalistan Murdabad," urging the Canadian government to take a stand against the separatist groups. Widespread outrage ensued after circulating videos depicted pro-Khalistani demonstrators disrespecting the Indian flag. These demonstrations were reportedly organised in response to the alleged assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the chief of Khalistan Tiger Force. Nijjar was purportedly shot dead in Surrey, Canada, on June 19.
