PALASA: Tensions flared late Saturday night in Palasa town over a controversial construction issue, leading to the detainment of key leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), MP Ram Mohan Naidu, MLA Ashok and Gouthu Sirisha. The epicenter of the controversy is a culvert constructed by TDP Palasa town President, Nagaraju, around 15 years ago over a drainage channel near his residence. The construction has recently been labelled illegal by local authorities, stating it as an obstruction to water flow. Consequently, they initiated plans to demolish the structure. The demolition team, armed with heavy equipment, arrived at the site late Saturday night, sparking immediate tension and uproar. TDP leaders contended that this action was a deliberate ploy to inconvenience Nagaraju. Rallied by MP Ram Mohan Naidu, MLA Ashok, former MLA Gouthu Sirisha, and numerous other TDP leaders, the party launched a vehement protest at the scene. Their concerted action necessitated police intervention. A heated argument ensued amongst the TDP leaders
