Hyderabad - Katakam Sudarshan, a prominent Maoist leader who had long eluded authorities and was listed as one of India's most wanted individuals, passed away on May 31 while in hiding in Dandakaranya, Chhattisgarh, according to a press release issued by the Maoist party on Sunday. Operating under the aliases "Anand" and "Dula," Sudarshan suffered a fatal heart stroke at 12:20 PM, marking the end of his nearly five-decade-long underground existence. The party's press release, dated June 3, stated that Sudarshan was a member of the CPI (Maoist) Central Committee and served as a Politburo member. Known for his unwavering Maoist ideology and exceptional expertise in fieldcraft, Sudarshan hailed from Bellampalli in Adilabad district. Prior to his involvement in revolutionary activities, he had obtained a Diploma in Mining in 1978.
