Amaravati: Tension escalating in Amaravati as YSRCP MLA Namburi Shankara Rao and former TDP MLA Kommalapati Sridhar indulged in a verbal war over illegal sand mining in the region. According to sources, Sridhar, accompanied by a large number of party activists, reached the Amaralingeswara Swamy temple, where he was stopped and detained by the police. The situation turned violent when the police resorted to a lathi charge against the TDP activists, resulting in several arrests. Expressing his fury over the police behaviour, Sridhar stated that illegal sand mining is causing numerous deaths due to the pits dug in the river. He reiterated his readiness to discuss the matter at any time and further added that the TDP rule was dedicated to the development of the region. He also emphasized the need to address other issues such as sand exploitation, soil mafia, and the construction of houses. He claimed that the YCP regime had brought no development to the region.
