The Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has made it a priority to expand the presence of his political party, the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), formerly known as the TRS, since its renaming in December of last year. Reports suggest that the BRS is planning to contest from 12 Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTC) in Maharashtra, raising speculation that KCR is more interested in spreading the party's base in Maharashtra than in Andhra Pradesh, as there has been little political activity in the latter region, except for a few leaders joining the party on January 2nd of this year.
