Live: KTR challenges Opposition to compare Telangana’s welfare, development schemes
Telangana's Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao has challenged opposition parties to compare the welfare and development programs in Telangana with those in Congress and BJP-ruled states. KTR questioned the Centre's discrimination towards Telangana despite its achievements, including increasing per capita income three times since the formation of the state in 2014, registering a growth of nearly 300 percent, and being rated the least corrupt state among 13 states in a survey by the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies.
KTR accused the BJP of trying to make Telangana's people suffer for its political grudges and of using tactics to delay payments to Sarpanches. Despite financial sanctions, the state has launched initiatives that have won 27 awards under Swachh Survekshan rankings and achieved an increase of 7.7 percent in green cover. From 2015 to 2022, Telangana has won 79 National Panchayat awards.
