Saweety Boora, Nitu Ghanghas shine at Women's World Boxing Championship

India has had a spectacular showing at the 2023 Women's World Boxing Championship, with star wrestlers Saweety Boora and Nitu Ghanghas leading the charge and winning two gold medals for the host country.

In the 81-kg category, Saweety Boora claimed her first World Women's Boxing Championship gold medal by defeating China's Wang Lina in a thrilling summit clash held at Delhi's Indira Gandhi arena. This victory was particularly sweet for Boora, as she had missed out on a medal at the 2014 Women's World Championship in Canada.

Earlier in the day, Nitu Ghanghas had clinched a gold medal in the 49-kg category by defeating Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg of Mongolia with a 5-0 scoreline. This was Nitu's first World Championships medal, and she maintained her excellent form throughout the tournament, employing a strategic and aggressive approach to her fights.

Overall, India's performance at the championship was impressive, and the gold medals won by Boora and Nitu helped to further boost the country's medal tally.
