New Delhi: On Wednesday afternoon, an abandoned four-storey building collapsed in the Vijay Park area of northeast Delhi. The incident occurred near the Sai Baba temple and was reported by officials from the Delhi Fire Service. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, and the debris is being cleared. The Director of Delhi Fire Service, Atul Garg, received a call about the building collapse at around 3 pm and immediately dispatched four firefighters to the scene. The SHOs of Jafrabad and Bhajanpura were also dispatched to the spot by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Joy Tirkey, who cordoned off the area. BSES and the fire brigade arrived at the site and began the rescue operation. Videos captured by local residents show the four-storey building collapsing within seconds. Police reports state that the 20-year-old building, constructed on a 25-square-yard plot, had been abandoned for some time. The building's owner has been identified as Aarif Malik, according to the police officer on the scene.
