The Lokayukta's anti-corruption division conducted a raid on Friday at the residence of Prashant Maadal, son of BJP MLA Maadal Virupakshappa, where they recovered a sum of Rs 6 crore in cash. The search operation is still ongoing. The previous day, Lokayukta officers caught Virupakshappa's son while accepting a bribe of Rs 40 lakh. "Over Rs 1.7 crore in cash was seized from his office," stated the Karnataka Lokayukta. The Lokayukta had received a complaint regarding the bribe demand, prompting them to take action. Prashant Madal is employed as the chief accountant at the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board.
