Nepal gifts India 'centuries-old shilas' for Ayodhya Ram Temple idols
The Nepali government has sent two sacred Shaligram stones to India's Ayodhya to contribute to the construction of the long-awaited Ram Mandir. Found exclusively on the banks of the Kali Gandaki River in the Myagdi and Mustang districts, the Shaligrams will be used to create idols of Lord Ram and Sita to be placed in the main temple complex.
The stones are on their way to Ayodhya via Janakpur, with the journey being coordinated by former Nepali deputy prime minister Bimalendra Nidhi, a native of Janakpur, the birthplace of Sita. The Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra will oversee the building of the idols once the stones arrive.
