In Aurangabad, Maharashtra, a PhD student set himself on fire and then hugged a woman with the purpose to burn her after she declined his marriage proposal. Both students studied at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University for their PhDs in zoology. After their relationship broke, the girl reported the incident to the police. In every way, the young woman abused her, he claimed. The young lady, who is working on a forensic project in a cabin, one day. Gajanan went there and locked the cabin's doors. After pouring petrol on himself, he poured another one on the young woman. He then lit fire. He hugged the young woman tightly. In the process, he sustained 85% burn damage, whereas the woman reportedly sustained 50% burn injuries. Both were taken immediately to a neighbourhood public hospital. They both passed away while receiving treatment there. A case has been opened by the police in this regard. An investigation is in progress.
