In a huge setback for India as Neeraj Chopra, a star javelin thrower for India, withdrew from the forthcoming Commonwealth Games on Tuesday because of a groin injury he sustained during his historic silver medal-winning run at the most recent World Championships. The men's javelin throw champion, a 24-year-old medal hopeful, was scheduled to defend his title in Birmingham, where the Games will get underway on Thursday. As per a statement from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), due to an injury, Neeraj Chopra will be unable to defend his gold title in the Commonwealth Games.
