Students in Kerala have initiated a protest against the gender divide, asking why they can't sit together. The gender-based division of the benches intensified the students' debate on moral policing. The students were demonstrating against persons who appeared to be trying to prevent girls and boys from hanging out together by destroying a long steel bench at the waiting shed. A group of Thiruvananthpauram College of Engineering (CET) students responded appropriately to others who vandalised a long steel bench in an effort to prevent females and boys from sitting together. The students were quick to respond outraged by this purported moral policing by a residents' association. A picture of boys and girls sitting on each other's laps was taken and posted on social media.
