According to one of the local media channel, over 100 Sikh men employed as security guards in Canada's City of Toronto were fired for disobeying the city's 'clean-shave policy.' The city's Covid-19 regulations, which were released in January of this year, include a provision known as the 'clean-shave policy' that mandates employees be clean shaven in order to guarantee the correct fit of their N95 respirators. Later, the city claimed that it had ordered the reinstatement of all employees who had been fired for this reason. According to the World Sikh Organization of Canada, the city's regulation has led to the expulsion of Sikh security personnel because keeping long hair is a sacred duty for Sikhs. It has asked Toronto authorities for an immediate solution.
