Kohli’s 70 Against Rajasthan Seals Dual T20 Milestones
Virat Kohli has established a new milestone in T20 cricket by becoming the player with the most 50-plus scores while batting first. The Indian batter has now crossed the 50-run mark 61 times when opening the innings in T20s. This achievement came during his recent half-century against Rajasthan Royals at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
With this feat, Virat Kohli has surpassed Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam, who has also registered 50-plus scores 61 times while batting first. Following them in the list are Chris Gayle (57), David Warner (55), Jos Buttler (52), and Faf du Plessis (52).
In the match against Rajasthan Royals, Virat Kohli scored 70 runs off 42 deliveries, including eight fours and two sixes. His strike rate in the match was 166.67.
Virat Kohli also achieved another rare feat in the same match. He became the first player to score 3,500 runs at a single venue in T20 cricket. This new record was set at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In doing so, he surpassed Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim, who had scored 3,373 runs at Mirpur. Other notable players on this list include James Vince (3,253 runs at Southampton), Alex Hales (3,241 runs at Nottingham), and Tamim Iqbal (3,238 runs at Mirpur).
