Heart-Wrenching Story Behind the Viral Pahalgam Photo!
Indian Navy Lieutenant Vinay Narwal and school teacher Himanshi were married just six days ago, on April 16, in Mussoorie. Their engagement had taken place on April 6. The newlywed couple had initially planned to go to Switzerland for their honeymoon, but due to visa delays, they decided instead to travel to Baisaran, near Pahalgam in Kashmir.

Within just 48 hours of reaching Srinagar, tragedy struck. On Tuesday, Vinay Narwal lost his life in a terrorist attack targeting tourists. The photo of Himanshi, still wearing her wedding bangles, weeping inconsolably beside her husband's body has gone viral on social media, deeply moving viewers across the country.

The image was captured and released by the Press Trust of India (PTI) through its stringer based in Srinagar. "Himanshi called her brother Lakshit and told him that terrorists had killed Vinay. We learned about the incident on Wednesday afternoon," said Himanshi’s maternal aunt, Babita. "At first, we hoped it wasn't true, but the photos circulating in the news confirmed the worst," she added tearfully.

Relatives confirmed that the individuals in the widely circulated photo were indeed recently married Lieutenant Vinay Narwal and his wife Himanshi. The two families had known each other for a long time, with Vinay’s father, Rajesh Narwal, and Himanshi’s father being close friends.

As soon as they received the news, the elders from both families departed for Pahalgam. Vinay's mortal remains were brought to Delhi on Tuesday and then transported to his native place, Karnal in Haryana, for the final rites. At Vinay’s home in Karnal, his wedding sherwani still hangs untouched, and the travel bag he had packed for the honeymoon remains only half-unpacked—a painful testament to a life and journey abruptly cut short.
