Omega Hospitals Expands to Chhattisgarh Through Shree Medishine Partnership
Raipur, October 11: Hyderabad-based Omega Hospitals has expanded its presence to Chhattisgarh through a strategic partnership with Raipur's Shree Medishine Hospitals, marking another step in its efforts to extend specialised cancer treatment and advanced healthcare services beyond Telangana. The collaboration has resulted in the establishment of Omega Medishine Hospitals in Raipur, with plans to develop a comprehensive cancer care centre in the state.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended the launch programme at Amlidih in New Rajendra Nagar, Raipur, on Sunday and laid the foundation stone for the proposed cancer treatment centre.

The partnership brings together Omega Hospitals' expertise in oncology and advanced cancer treatment with Shree Medishine Hospitals' established multispecialty infrastructure and regional presence. The initiative aims to provide specialised medical services closer to patients in Chhattisgarh and neighbouring states, reducing their dependence on hospitals in major metropolitan cities.

Speaking at the programme, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said Chhattisgarh was emerging as an important healthcare destination in central India. He welcomed investments in advanced medical facilities and emphasised the need to make specialised treatment accessible and affordable to people within the state.

Vishnu Deo Sai observed that patients suffering from serious illnesses, particularly cancer, often travel to cities such as Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi for treatment. Such journeys place additional financial and emotional burdens on patients and their families. He expressed hope that the proposed facility would help address these challenges by improving access to advanced cancer care locally.

Omega Hospitals was founded in Hyderabad in 2010 by surgical oncologist Dr. Ch. Mohana Vamsy. The hospital group has developed expertise in cancer diagnosis and treatment, including medical, surgical and radiation oncology, and has progressively expanded its services to other locations in India.

Shree Medishine Hospitals is an established healthcare institution in Raipur, providing multispecialty medical services, including orthopaedics, joint replacement and neurosurgery. The partnership is expected to integrate its existing infrastructure with Omega Hospitals' oncology expertise.

Under the collaboration, the proposed Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre will focus on providing integrated cancer treatment services, including medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology and haemato-oncology. Plans also include early cancer detection, screening, molecular diagnostics, nutritional counselling, pain management, palliative care and psychosocial support.

The proposed centre is intended to bring different stages of cancer diagnosis, treatment and supportive care under a coordinated healthcare system, minimising the need for patients to travel between multiple hospitals or cities.

Omega Hospitals Managing Director Dr. Ch. Mohana Vamsy has described the collaboration as part of the group's broader strategy to expand access to specialised oncology services across India. Shree Medishine Hospitals Medical Director Dr. Sushil Sharma has also highlighted the importance of combining advanced medical technology with comprehensive patient care.

During the programme, Vishnu Deo Sai outlined the Chhattisgarh government's initiatives to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, including plans for a Medicity and Pharma Park in Nava Raipur. He said the government was working to improve the availability of super-specialty medical services and reduce the need for patients to travel outside the state.

Raipur MLA Motilal Sahu, Mayor Meenal Choubey, representatives of Omega Hospitals and Shree Medishine Hospitals, medical professionals and other dignitaries attended the event.

The Raipur expansion adds a new regional presence for Omega Hospitals and is expected to strengthen specialised cancer treatment infrastructure in central India as the proposed facilities become operational.
