Techie Attempts Suicide at Bengaluru Raj Bhavan Alleging Harassment by Wife
A tense situation unfolded on Sunday afternoon outside the Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru when a 36-year-old software engineer, Zuhail Ahmed, attempted suicide, alleging harassment by his wife and inaction by the police despite his complaints. The incident created a stir in the local area.
According to details, Zuhail Ahmed, a resident of the Hebbal area, arrived at the Raj Bhavan gate carrying petrol. He poured it over himself and shouted that his wife had filed a domestic violence case against him. He claimed that despite his attempts to file a counter-complaint against her, the police had ignored his pleas. Eyewitnesses reported that he yelled loudly, “Even though I requested the police to register my complaint, they are not listening. Death is my only refuge,” and was about to set himself on fire.
However, alert security personnel on duty at the site intervened in time and prevented him from self-immolation. They subsequently handed him over to the local police. The police took Zuhail Ahmed into custody and conducted a medical examination before shifting him to the police station for further inquiry.
Officials stated that his family members had been informed about the incident. Preliminary investigations revealed that Ahmed had been under severe mental stress due to ongoing domestic disputes and legal conflicts with his wife. The police are conducting a detailed investigation into the allegations made by Ahmed and the underlying marital discord.
