Sharmila Alleges Jana Sena Has Become a Religious Party Under Pawan Kalyan
Andhra Pradesh Congress President Y. S. Sharmila has strongly criticized Jana Sena Party President and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. She responded to remarks made by Pawan Kalyan during a recent Jana Sena foundation event.
Sharmila alleged that Pawan Kalyan has abandoned the ideologies of figures like Che Guevara and revolutionary poet Gaddar, instead embracing the principles of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. She claimed that Pawan Kalyan’s statements indicate that he has deeply internalized the ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Furthermore, she asserted that the Jana Sena Party has been transformed into an "Andhra Religious Sena."
"Jana Sena was supposedly founded for the people, but it has now been turned into a party promoting a specific religious agenda. In a state like Andhra Pradesh, which has long been a symbol of religious harmony, adopting a divisive approach is deeply concerning. After 11 years of political struggle and assuming the role of Deputy Chief Minister, it is disheartening to see Pawan Kalyan using religion as a political tool and speaking only for selective interests. The Congress Party strongly condemns this," Sharmila stated.
She further remarked that it is unfortunate that a party founded on the ideals of freedom fighters has now embraced what she described as the "religious fanaticism" of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). "As Deputy Chief Minister, Pawan Kalyan must wake up and free himself from the illusion of the BJP," she advised.
