Nirmala Sitharaman, Chandrababu Attend Daggubati Venkateswara Rao’s Book Launch
A book launch event for Prapancha Charitra (World History), authored by former minister Daggubati Venkateswara Rao, was held today (Thursday) in Visakhapatnam. The event took place at the GITAM University auditorium and was attended by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Member of Parliament Daggubati Purandeswari, and former Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu, among others.
Following the book's unveiling, the dignitaries extended their congratulations to Daggubati Venkateswara Rao. Speaking on the occasion, the author reflected on the effort that went into writing the book. He revealed that his academic background was in science and that he had pursued an MBBS degree. Admitting that he initially had little knowledge of social sciences, he shared how this realization led him to extensively read books to deepen his understanding. He mentioned that he actively sought out books on history and biographies of great leaders to equip himself for the task.
A moment that captured public attention at the event was an emotional embrace between Chandrababu Naidu and Daggubati Venkateswara Rao. The two, who are related by family ties, have had political differences in the past. Daggubati distanced himself from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and later joined the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), contesting the 2019 elections from Parchur, where he was defeated by TDP candidate Sambasiva Rao. Since then, he has largely stayed away from active politics. Recently, his visit to Chandrababu Naidu’s residence to personally invite him to the book launch sparked discussions in political circles.
