Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary’s Interesting Comments on Ministerial Position
Rajamahendravaram Rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary has stated that he holds no disappointment over not being given a ministerial position, despite being the most senior leader in the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He remarked that while N. Chandrababu Naidu might be senior to him politically, within the party, he considers himself more senior than Naidu.

In an interview, Butchaiah Chowdary explained that he has been with the TDP since its inception in 1982. He emphasized that he has always stood by the party, regardless of whether he was given a position or not. "After the recent elections, I hoped I might be given a ministerial position, but it did not happen. Whether due to political equations or social considerations, I do not see it as necessary. There is no reason for me to be dissatisfied. I will continue to do my work," he stated.

He reiterated his unwavering loyalty to TDP founder Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), saying, "I have been a devotee of NTR from the beginning. I stood by him until the very end and will continue to do so. In 1996, I fought for NTR, and later, I returned to the party following Chandrababu Naidu’s call. Since then, I have been contesting elections and winning under the party’s banner."

Butchaiah Chowdary dismissed speculations that he was denied a ministerial position due to being perceived as loyal to NTR and opposed to Chandrababu Naidu. He firmly stated that there was no truth to such claims.

Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary has won the MLA seat seven times, first securing victory in 1983. Over his political career, he has contested 11 elections, winning seven and facing defeat in four.
