The Leader Once Expelled from the Assembly is Now the Speaker
During a Delhi Assembly session in 2015, BJP MLA Vijender Gupta was forcibly removed from the House by marshals following allegations that he had made controversial remarks against AAP MLA Alka Lamba. Ten years later, the same legislator is now set to assume the prestigious role of Assembly Speaker.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated Vijender Gupta for the Speaker's post, and party sources indicate that his election is a mere formality. Following this development, old photos and videos of his expulsion from the Assembly have resurfaced on social media, going viral.
Vijender Gupta has been elected to the Delhi Assembly for the third time from the Rohini constituency. Previously, he served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, during which the AAP-led government repeatedly expelled him from sessions in what was perceived as a humiliating manner. Having endured several such incidents, Gupta is now set to preside over the very House that once removed him.
Additionally, the BJP has announced the nomination of Mohan Singh Bisht for the position of Deputy Speaker.
