Chennai to Host Second India-Australia T20; Free Metro Services Announced
The five-match T20 series between India and Australia commenced today, with the first match held at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The second match is scheduled to take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday, January 25.
In a significant gesture, the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has announced a special offer for spectators attending the Chennai match. According to TNCA, free metro rail services will be available for ticket holders, both to and from the stadium.
“Match ticket holders can utilize the free metro services to reach the stadium and return home after the match,” TNCA mentioned in a social media post. The association also urged fans to plan their travel in alignment with the match schedule for a seamless experience.
Tickets for the second T20 match have reportedly been selling at a rapid pace. Being a weekend game, TNCA expects a packed house at the iconic Chepauk Stadium.
This initiative by TNCA, in collaboration with Chennai Metro Rail, follows a similar approach taken during the 2023 IPL season, where free metro travel was offered to ticket holders for matches held in Chennai. TNCA representatives highlighted that such measures aim to reduce traffic congestion around the Marina Beach area, which often experiences heavy vehicular movement during major cricket events.
